Hello everyone! I have my 54 gallon tank set up now and it has been cycled. I have a black/white clown in there that I've had for over 3 years.

Need help with a stocking list. I have a few fish in mind but im not 100% sure if I can house this fish. Tank dimensions 39 x 27.4 x 23. I also have a coral beauty my LFS is holding for me. I would like to add him last as he has been the bully in my 75 gallon tank I use to have.

Stock list:

Midas Blenny
Mystery Wrasse/Sixline Wrasse
Flamehawk
Dottyback Maybe

Will these work? Enough room to house these fish? Could I get more than what's listed above? I'm open to any options! Tank has a Eshopps S-120 skimmer as well. Thanks!

Those dimensions you gave would be a ~106 gallon tank. Are those correct?

I think that your stocking list is pretty good, all colorful semi-aggressive fish that with appropriate hiding areas should do well. I would probably introduce the Six-line (if chosen) last or at least very small. Also a Yellow Coris Wrasse may be a bit more suited as a yellow fish in mix instead of Midas or even in addition to.

Cheers, Todd

Sixline you will regret, *** well as the Dotty back, to much aggression for such a tiny tank just my .02

Sixline's and some Dottybacks can be very belligerent/territorial depending on individual as well as structure/aquascape provided. I have had maybe 6-7 Sixlines in past 35 years and only a couple of really nasty ones and a couple that were quite passive. As for Dottyyback choose a milder species like Pseudochromis fridmani or P. diadema. Also having substantial or intricate rock work will help greatly in providing sufficient territories. Part of successfully keeping this variety of fish species together is to crowd slightly and introduce all as juveniles in order of most aggressive last. Very similar to African Chiclids bio-types.

Cheers, Todd

I have a six line and he's just a little devil, no he is fine with no other swimming fish, or get a fish that is bigger then him

have you thought about a chritsmas wrasse or a redline wrasse
youre going to want to make sure you have a good cover for the midas and or wrasses

The red line as it gets older may nip at shrimp and some inverts my yellow coris was pretty big and never went after my shrimp
I added a melanarus that was roughly the same size and he had to go the next day would've tore the shrimp apart.
It's a hit or miss but the smaller you start the more luck you'll have

I would all honesty keep it at that, or get a goby, cause the higher the bio load more filtration you will need to keep up with it

Clown and blenny first.

Hawk will claim some of the rockwork, but not much open water.

Depends on the wrasse, but the angel will most likely rule the tank (put it in last).
