Ive had two dish die today! No signs last night as they fed.

Now my other two fish has what seems to be velvet.

I started treating medic as soon as the other fish died.

The only tank i have is a small 5 gallon tank :(
Whats the chances that medic works? I started that earlier and turned off the lights until it passes.

I also seen another ruby reef? For velvet.

Has anyone had any luck with either?

Oh my that’s horrendous. You need to pull all of your fish and treat them with copper ASAP. A freshwater dip would be a good first step for some relief. :(

I’ve also moved this to the disease forum.

Definitely velvet. Your two options are copper or chloroquine phosphate. You have to act now or you will likely wake up to more dead fish.

Copper is probably going to be the easiest fastest one to obtain. Need to be to the therapuetic level within the next 24-48 hrs if you want to save them. Sooner is better than later with that kind of coverage.

Good luck!

Like mentioned above.

1) 5 min Freshwater dip immediately.
2) 90 min bath in acriflavine (Ruby Reef Rally contains acriflavine)
3) therapeutic copper or CP

Following these steps will be your greatest chance of survival.

Ur gonna need a copper test kit to maintain therapeutic levels. Make sure it's calibrated for chelated vs non-chelated copper, depending on the copper brand . I don't feel a 5 g's gonna be big enough for an extended period of tx. +1 on the FW dip. Also, no rock, sand or carbon in the QT. The copper will bond with calcium in rock/sand and drop the therapeutic levels quickly and the carbon will pull it out of the water column. PVC is the best choice for QT.
