As you might know I've also fallen to the wrasse bug and have been adding spectacular fish to my new 220 from top notch vendors such LiveAquaria and Pacific Island Aquatics. If you've ever kept a wrasse, you know they like to sleep under a rock or overhang, many times digging out sand to make themselves a home. When I started putting together my new tank, this was one thing I kept in mind, trying to make 'homes' in the rock for wrasses. I have one perfect rock in the back corner that has been a popular spot to hide and sleep, and with many wrasses I felt like I wanted to add more.

Using some dry rock, a masonry bit, a flat head screwdriver, and the back side of my hammer I created some nice 'housing' for my fish...mostly geared towards my wrasses. Additionally, all of them have at least two entries to allow escape if one seeks refuge in these if being chased so there is no 'dead end'. . I plan to put them in tomorrow probably and hopefully they'll go over well. Enjoy:

Nice! I'd like to see what they look like in your tank!

Will do. They don't look like much in pics but they are 2-3 inches deep inside and took quite a bit of work to hollow them out without splitting them. I had two other perfect ones that I just got too greedy on and they split in half.

I'll stick them in the tank today and get some pics....hopefully with residents, haha.

Very cool! What type of rock is that in the first place?

Thanks Rev! The rock is BRS Reef saver rock in pics 2 & 3 and the rest is dry fiji rock. I plan to make a few more as I add more live rock when I finally order it. The goal is provide a natural environment for them to sleep in, all the while making it so it looks natural and not blatantly obvious.

Ok, got the "luxury" homes in the tank and I really like them and so do the fish apparently since they were in them within 5 minutes of me getting my hands out of the tank.

Pics - water was still a bit cloudy from messing with sand and the dust on the rock:
