Hello

Can anyone identify this fish for me?

This was strictly an ID question (because some people just like to know things), as I saw this fish at a zoo I visited recently. I do not plan on having a butterfly in my tank as I am well aware of the difficulties and death rate among this fish.

With all due respect, (not trying to be rude), don't assume everyone to be ignorant. :)

There are people who pay attention to wild caught vs captive bred, success rates and overall chances of having a healthy life in your aquarium. To some it's more than having pretty things swimming in a glass/acrylic box.

I appreciate your intention but some people would be insulted by your assumption that I'm one of those people that point at a fish and say I'll take that one without knowing a thing about it.

Again not trying to be rude, but I feel like I was scolded for something I wasn't even thinking about doing lol. You just corrected the guy who stands in the salt water isle of Petco arguing with employees trying to sell Emperor Angelfish to person with a 40 gallon breeder.

Next time lead with "hey buddy, are you thinking about getting this fish or are you just curious?" :)

And if this seems rude or out of line, I apologize. I have yet to finish my coffee :)

Take it easy, man. Lots of assumptions going on here.
Simply put: I pasted a link to a vid that I thought might be informative to you. Something that I myself considered to be informative and would have appreciated being sent to me if I hadn't already known about it.
Look, I didn't post the link because I wanted to send some kind of message and scold you. Like, why would you even think that? The video identifies many butterfly species and outlines the husbandry required to care for them.

The other thing is, I'm not Bob Fenner. Yeah I agree with you about him being so passionate that his talk comes off like that and he's trying to tone it down by sugar coating it in corny jokes. But that's really not the intention behind posting the link. It's the information about the care necessary for the butterflies that he provides in his talk. You're totally off with "... I feel like I was scolded...". Believe me, if I wanted to scold someone, I wouldn't do it in a passive way. Come chi sia davvero me.
