Fish id please?

Hey all,
I found this really cool fish. I was wondering if anyone knew what type it is? Or if anyone has ever kept one.
I found it in our canal floating at the top.

I've released it by now but it's a pretty cool fish and would like to see if it's possable to keep one.

Possibly a juvenile Atlantic Tripletail - Lobotes surinamensis? If so, they get huge.
