Saw two interesting fish today at cal academy of sciences that I've never run across before. Is anyone able to ID? Sorry, the pics on the second fish are small. Note that those clams are huge, probably 15"+.

Yes, that's the correct ID, but I wouldn't consider it newly discovered by any means (officially described in 1979). They're super deep and in areas where collection does not typically occur.The first one is Sacura speciosa, a newly discovered deepwater fish.

That particular specimen came to be in that aquarium simply because Matt Wandell works with Luiz Rocha and knows Brian Greene.![]()
