Many will say gem tang but its a Spotted Yellow-Eye Bristletooth Tang

It looks like Ctenochaetus truncatus, commonly known as square-tail bristletooth tang or Indian gold-ring bristletooth tang.

Ctenochaetus strigosus has stripes instead of spots on the sides.
Truncatus Is a yellow eye bristletooth

I agree, though Ctenochaetus strigosus, or Kole tang, is also called yellow-eye bristletooth tang, so there is confusion without additional clarification.

Since the original question asked if this was strigosus, I wanted to be clear to differentiate based on my research. Sometimes even Ctenochaetus truncatus is called a Kole tang due to similarities, but I do not like such confusing common naming, so I try to use the genus and species when being specific.

Edit: I also should have noted that I agreed with your first post and was only adding additional clarification and information. Spotted versus striped differentiates whether a yellow-eye bristletooth tang is C. truncatus or C. strigosus respectively.

100% agree. This thread is a prime example of how confusing common names can be. Using scientific names clears confusion.
