My GF brought this home today and was told it is a “lizard fish.” She likes weird and off sea creatures so this was right up her alley.

Any help in identifying this guy would be great. My tank has been up and going so I am not worried unless it is super aggressive towards tank mates or nips at coral or inverts.

Thanks in advance

That looks like a Parapercis sp. aka lizard blenny.

Thankfully not a lizardfish. They would eat very fish you have.

This fish is usually peaceful and only has issues with fish of similar shape and size.

Parapercis hexophtalma. Not a common fish at all. I don't believe that coral will be on the menu, but it does get to a decent size, about 8-11 inches. I'd say that fish under 3" and motile invertebrates will be lunch. Very neat looking fish, though. It'd be great in a predatory reef or FOWLR.

That looks like him, thank you so much!
