Fish Ideas Anyone ... ?

Hey All ..

So I have a 6ft long 125 gallon. Currently have 2 clowns, goby, 3 chromies, single anthias and a powder blue that is fat, happy and rules the tank (added him last) ... he chases everything and seems like a dog that just wants to play all the time to the point of bugging everyone else.

I am wanting to add some more fish though and not sure what I could add. Of course I could stock up on some more anthias, but was looking for something else, but I am not sure WHAT exactly because I know adding another tang may be a bad idea? The powder blue may chase the new tang around to the point of death?

Maybe an angel? I just fear that the powder blue will not be having it!

Any ideas would be welcomed as I have some money to burn ... !!

Fairy and flasher wrasses, an angel from the genus Genicanthus,flame or longnose haekfish, a group of zebra or scissortail dartfish.

What kind of goby do you have?

+1 on the fairy and flasher wrasses. Most of them stay small, are active, and add movement and color to the tank. If you are up for a little bit more of a challenge, another wrasse choice could be a trio of Blue Star Leopards (macropharyngodon bipartitus), They are stunning, they are sand sleepers so you'd need to be set up for that, and they can be hard to get used to aquarium life.

I also like the genicathus suggestion - I have two small female bellus angels in a 220g, and am hoping that they become a male/female pair some day.

No matter what you add, some of your current fish may be territorial at first, so it's a good idea to add the fish through a social acclimation box at first. That's going to be especially true for some of the more timid species like some of the wrasses ...

Mixed reef ... primarily sps but have some softies in there as well.

Thoughts about a trigger fish possibly?

And I love all those suggesstions... all really cool fish. I see myself grabbing some of those.

Triggers of the genus Xanthichthys (blue-jaw, sargassum, crosshatch) can be risky to things like clams or shrimp, but will generally leave corals alone.

I personally do not like Bluethroat's anymore, due to their drab coloration and minimal personality. The other two Xanthichthys trigs you mentioned are awesome! A sargassum would be fine in a 125, but I would not put a crosshatch in there.

If you feel like you are up for a challenge, a trio of Macropharyngodon bipartitus is a great suggestion. If not, most Cirrhilabrus will fit in your size tank, but be careful about aggression. My favorite is Cirrhilabrus jordani or lineatus, which are both incredible fish!
