So just to give a little background on my tank:
90 gallon about 4 ft long
30 gallon sump
Bubble Magnus 5 protein skimmer
Live rock not sure of weight though
Using carbon in filter sock in sump

Current fish:
1 yellow tang
2 clowns
1 green spotted puffer

So with that out of the way Im trying to decide what to do next with fish.

I really would like a blue tang but I'm not sure if it is possible.

I also like the longnose hawkfish

I'm just not sure what my system can handle and I don't wanna over do it

Any ideas of what I could add or if I can? Any and all fish ideas appreciated! 1519939642916816681184.jpg

A small blue tang should be fine for like 2-3 years. My 90 is personally stocked with a pair of clowns, 5 chromis (hey, I like the colors and group behavior lol), a starry blenny, and the 2 main fish: a bicolor foxface and lineatus wrasse. I don’t have plans to add any other fish except my banggai cardinal and maybe a leopard. IMO a 4 foot tank is too small for any tang long term so I have not included any in my stocking plan but a lot of people will say that kole, tomini, and some zebrasoma will be okay in there.

Long nose hawk wouldn't be a bad selection... they'll pick on shrimp, but other than that, they're interesting and entertaining critters.

Anthius, Cardinalfish, Wrasses, basslets, firefish, Gobies, Blennies... there's whole oceans full of small, reasonably non aggressive fishes to choose from :)

I'd probably not add another tang. In that small of a tank, you're going to eventually crowd the yellow already, and aggressiveness between tangs in a crowded environment is common.

Green spotted puffers are brackish fish, aren't they? If they can do full marine salinity, it's news to me.

Greybeard I bought him at my LFS and the guy said they had acclimated him for a marine environment. He has been in my tank a year and been doing fine. I was worried at first too but he has been fine. Gotta love when your wife brings home a surprise

I would remove the puffer, they get big and mean. It will be fine in saltwater though.

The longnose hawkfish is great in a 90, I used to have one in mine years ago. If no corals a dwarf angel is a great option, too. You could probably also put a couple yellowtail damsels and a smallish wrasse in as well.

So after reading replies and doing some research thinking about this:

Current:
2 clowns
1 green spotted puffer
1 yellow tang

Possible additions:
Hawkfish either longnose or falco
Flame Angel
Trio of chromis
Six line wrasse

What do yall think?

My opinion would be replace the sixline with something else and only one chromis, if any.

I like a longnose better than a falco but like the flame best of the hawkfish .

I don't know anything about the puffer...

I like the direction you are going, if you wanted to limit the aggression; you could choose a pink streaked wrasse instead of the sixline. As far as what your system can handle, you are doing good on that. If you need additional nutrient control, an algae reactor is a very effective and easy addition.

I have one and he's awesome! Comes up to the glass constantly as soon as I am in the room. Eats well, plays well, chills on the rocks and his colors are awesome under the lights!

Right now the thinking is
My 2 clowns
My yellow tang
My Green spotted puffer
Longnose hawkfish
Flame Angel

But I wanna add some blue so thinking either a chalk bass or possibly a small school of blue reef chromis
