Fish inspiration for a 300XL?

I would recommend a purple tile, the beautiful yellow chrysus (or its dull sister the leuco), and a group of swallowtail dartfish. Nice movement and color.

Which lubbocki would you be referring to? Cebu or Indo? IME Cebu would be much better candidate for his size reef and aggression wise.

The standard, non Cebu, is the variant I have experience with. Is there a big difference in size and temperament? You don't get much more easy-going than Lubbock's.

The Lubbock’s I agree are one of the most peaceful. However IME when kept with other wrasse or similar sized fish in small foot print tanks the Cebu is the best candidate as the Indo gets more pushy. Size wise is the same I think.

I disagree - The Indonesian is the best one out of the two. My Cebu grew faster and became much more active quicker however in a 3’ tank I’d avoid both - Both of mine use every inch of the tank.

Actually no, both were added at separate times, my Cebu was added maybe 2 months before my Lubbocki however not much longer than that.
I’ve had both for nearly 3 years now and in those three years, my Indonesian has only recently hit 3 inches whilst my Cebu was 3 inches for pretty much the whole year of 2022.

Ended up with a Royal Grammar this week. Will keep an out on the others mentioned here.

They had some nice looking very small blue damsels, but am I right in thinking these will outgrow the tank?

Also, not sure it's a UK name, but they had some lovely yellow "wreckit"? Fish?

They had a couple of Gobys but none shouted out to me just yet.

Which devils…I mean damsels sorry are you referring to lol? Some damsels as long as they don’t get too large and aggressive can live in a 3 footer long term.

They were just down as Blue Damsels. Really small though, probably royal blue? With the black markings?
Just read up on them and yes, seem maybe too aggressive for me!

That sounds like the sapphire damsel - Chrysiptera springeri. This species is much more peaceful than the other species.
Over here I believe they’re called the Royal Damsel (I hate TMC’s names and stick to the scientific names).

Edit: just went to the website and TMC names the sapphire damsel the Royal Blue Damsel.

You want to be sure of the ID of damsel species, Latin name.

Those in the genus Chrysiptera are good community fish.
