I swapped to a 10g from a 5g about 2 weeks ago, I've had all my livestock for about 2 months. Everyone seems to be doing just fine except this little guy. I noticed today all day he's just sat in the same spot. He dosent seem to be breathing heavy. But I'm a little worried

i should also mention that my CBS seems pretty interested in the little guy, he usually stays in his cave in the back there, But every few minutes he comes out and stands over top of him,

Have you tested for ammonia lately? I think I would put that little guy in a fish trap overnight, or the CBS might have a midnight snack after the lights go out.

i have, i tested SG which was a tad bit higher then normal, so i added a bit of water, And also tested for ammonia which showed up at .25ppm,

^^ Any detectable ammonia is a problem. It should be 0 at all times.

I would use an ammonia reducer (exs. Seachem Prime, Amquel) to neutralize the ammonia in the water, and then do a large WC ASAP.

That looks like a Scooter Blenny. Have you ever seen this fish eat anything? If it is a Scooter Blenny he is mostly likely near death from starvation :(

They are difficult to keep as they need a constant source of live copepods to eat and there is no way to keep enough in 5 or 10 gallons.

Hopefully I'm wrong and it is a different type of fish.

the main problem. i live in an area that isint very "fish friendly" or atleast saltwater, this closest think i have to a fish store is a Country max. not sure if they would carry something like MB, waterchange will be done in the AM when the store with the RO unit openjs

deffinitly is a scooter :/

Then you have starved him to death or near death.

I would suggest doing a little bit of research on any fish you intend to buy in the future. That way you can avoid making this kind of mistake again.

I would also suggest getting a little fishy first aid box put together. You can buy things on amazon and there is a really good thread in the fish disease forums about things you should keep on hand.

Also a small bottle of Prime and a seachem ammonia badge for your tank wouldn't hurt.

He needs live copepods, Terrell. Are you able to get them? He's goung to need a safe place, like Humble said. Do you have anything like a critter keeper? Tubberware you can put multiple holes in?

My incompetence pretty much doomed this guy from the start. A little bit of research before purchasing would have possibly saved this guys life. At least from me. The LFS I bought this from knows my tank(they set it up) and told me it was a good purchase. Thankfully it was only a few $ so it's not a huge hit. But still feel bad. If he's still here in the morning I'll take the trip to try and bring him to the store and hopefully they can help him

Like I said. I don't have much in terms of a marine fish store near me. Closest one is an hour away(where I do my shopping) so it's hard for me to get stuff like this right away, I usually have to order most stuff online

I have Tupperware I can take some tank water and put him into. With a small amount of frozen mysa shrimp. That's about all I can do for the night
