Been researching into Marine fish and getting a tank for a while, needed to put my mind into something and this seemed perfect, so last week I splashed out on a Kent marine bioreef 98L starter tank for £250 online, after being unimpressed with lfs tanks. Here is the tank up and ready! Getting water and live rock Wednesday, ill keep you updated of my journey!

So I've now added water, mixed in the salt and tap de chlorinator, added some live rock to start with for now (got lucky with some coral also attached) going to re arrange the rocks today and then test the water see what's going on!

Also the tank is maturing! I think a clean up crew is needed!

I think it looks great this far! Get your a kill clown or chromis to start out and your on your way.

Woo! Thanks I will do and a red stripe shrimp can't remember their proper names are they okay to put in? Xx

Update; went to fish store they said the nitrate levels- 0.25ppm is too high. Done 10% water change and hoping tomorrow I will be able to get some fish...

Tank looks great! To lower nitrates, you'll need to do bigger water changes. I'd change 20-30% to bring it down. I recently had to bring mine down from 25ppm on my 10g nano so I changed 2g every other day until it was down to 10ppm. The every other day was to protect what was in the tank. Since you don't have anything in it yet, you could change it daily.

Fwiw, some people change 50% of the water to lower nitrates. I've never done this but maybe someone who has will chime in.

Do you recommend me doing another 10% water change again today? Or do it tomorrow before going to fish shop?

Done another water change 20% this time and all looks perfect!

Thank you for the help! X

Update! Got clown fish from lfs the other day, fish are so far doing fine (touch wood) hoping to get clean up crew gobys, hermit crabs and red fire shrimp Saturday (maybe not all at same time) need to rearrange all live rock to make it look nice but don't want to stress fish out for a while.
