My firefish was found dead on the ground after 6 months of having him...I just transferred tanks to a 25 lagoon and there is a screen top that came with the tank on it currently. I will admit there are a few gaps which I am assuming is what he got through...what can I do to prevent this in the future? I feel horrible and like it is my fault.

Get the BRS lid kit, I have it on my IM50, and its hands down better then the IM lid I have on my IM25.

These fish are notorious jumpers. I don't keep them because of their behavior.
Sorry about your loss.
Yeah I think his replacement will be something less prone to jumping...any suggestions for this size tank?

I will take a look at it!

Also are you running blue lights at night so the tank isnt completely black, tends to lessen jumping.

I am not! I didn't realize that was a thing? I was always told total darkness is better for the fish since its more like a real environment.

I have an XR15 on both of mine and I have it all blue @ 3% at night, just enough light to it's not completely black

As someone said firefish are well known jumpers. Especially since a lot of them have a skittish personalities. I had one jump out of the small feeding port hole in my fluval evo 13.5 nano tank. Luckily I saw it in the corner of my vision and put him back in. Sorry for you loss as well. Don't feel too bad. Stuff happens.
