Hello! I recently purchased an established reef and made my own lid with window screen frame and fish net. This has made sure no fish jump out however last week my flame wrasse got spooked and Wasn’t able to jump out but did end up in the over flow. I had to drain the over flow to get him out. Fast forward to today and my madagascar flasher wrasse did the same thing. How can I stop this from happening. There’s a small one inch gap between the top of the over flow and the lid.

I can t really see from the pictures but can’t you take a cut out of something and cover it ?

I have a cut out piece of sheet that covers the entire overflow section on my tank for the same reason.

I had the same problem with a bi color blenny. I took a piece of 1/2" tubing, split it down the middle and wedged it over the top of the overflow all the way around. He never made the leap again. Might be worth a try.

Yeah I’m looking at any options right now. Two expensive fish in one week isn’t a good sign.
Get a piece of acrylic, and use a jigsaw to cut it in the exact dimension of the overflow.
Yeah I’m not great with jigsaw but do have one. Might go by Lowe’s to see if they have accrylic
this may be off topic but where did you get your madagascar flasher wrasse from, and how much
It was a gift so I’m not entirely sure. Just know I have an awesome wife lol

This actually seems like an amazing idea. I have plenty of extra hose. Gonna try this rn
