Fish kill

I added clownfish and a yellow tang this weekend to a newly cycled tank. Everything was fine until I decided to plumb my refugium in. I don't think I waited long enough for glue to dry. Got impatient and turned flow to fuge. A few hours later tang dead, next morning clowns dead.

So my question is do I need to completely drain all 180 gallon of water or would a 50% change fix

I would do a full water change. If any trace of a contaminant is still present...it could still be lethal.

Do I need to do anything to the rocks and sand? Or just change the water?

That is a good question. Since your tank is already cycled, I would try just a full water change and then test the tank with a cheap fish/invert to see if it survives. If it survives a week in the new water, you'll more than likely be fine.

Are you positive the tank was cycled? Were the fish QT'd? Too many variables with you just adding the fish, the tank being newly cycled, and immediately plumbing the fuge in after adding the fish.

There was strings of white glue in the tank. It was the pvc cement. I'm pretty sure it was the glue.

Would replacing all the water be enough or do I need to do something with rock and sand?

Is there a test kit I can test the water?

If I need to recycle so be it. I don't want to kill anymore fish.
