The pump from my skimmer has just sucked one of my green chromis into it and chopped it up! :( I've just tried to put a tiny bit if fine filter pad over the entrance to the pump but it reduced the level too low inside the skimmer?what can I do?

Can you put one of these or something similar over the intake maybe. Overflow Strainer - MPT

If not maybe cut a square out of eggcrate material and superglue or tie wrap over the suction, but with out see a picture and knowing the type of skimmer the help will be limited.

It's a hang on skimmer with the pump stuck to the back of the tank.

I tried to put some fine filter pad over it but the level inside dropped to much and couldn't get it back up when the flow into it was limited by the filter pad.

He was the smallest of the bunch but they're all small enough for another to get sucked in?all my levels are perfect so don't know why he would have been on his way out?

I didn't actually see him get sucked in and I have read that sometimes a group can kill off the weaker one so maybe that happened?? I'll get an intake sponge just incase. Cheers!

Yup, thats what Im thinking. They bunch will harass the smaller one to the point of him being on the way out.
