Im planning out my QT tank setup and fish list. This will be the first time i am taking QT serious and ive never owned expensive fish so this is making me nervous as hell.. ;Nailbiting
There are a couple of black storms clowns available im seriously considering but they are around 400 dollars for a pair..

I would like to QT for a longer period, using Copper (or CP if i can find it anywhere here in the EU) Metroplex, Focus and General Cure. All of which have to be imported, kind of a hassle but i would like to follow some methods as described by Humblefish. (I already own a Hanna copper meter and have some 37% formaldehyde)

Howto: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-to-quarantine.189815/
Meds: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/medications-to-keep-on-hand.213574/

I would like to devide the list in 2 rounds, get all the 'peaceful' fish in first, and then run a full quarantine again for the more aggressive tangs. Just to give the first batch some time to settle in. I realize i might need a bigger QT for multiple fish. Hoping for some feedback so i dont make any stupid assumptions or mistakes.

Fish/QT list. I have owned most of these at some stage, but in different tanks, this is basically my dream list for a reef safe system.

part A:
2* ORA Black Storm
Dwarf fuzzy Lionfish
Marine Betta
Copperband butterfly

Part B (tang gang):
Powder Brown
Yellow
Purple

Questions so far:
1: Any thoughts on the fish list and method of making 2 QT groups?

2: Im not sure how to start the liverock process while the QT is running. Normally i would add 1 or 2 cheap fish to the DT to start the process, but i cant do that now because they havent been QT'ed. So get the rock started with the first group of fish when the QT is completed? Maybe only use bacteria/schrimp to start and maintain the process while i run the QT? (I would prefer to seed the rock while fish are in QT for obvious reasons)

3: Can i use a Clarisea rollermat in the QT? (i have an old V1 version somewhere)

4: Can i premix a batch of saltwater, lets say 50 gallons, add the copper or CP to that and use auto water change to keep everything in balance? (Maybe run some vinegar/bleach through it at the end to clean anything remaining in the hoses)

Im going to suggest you forget the copper.
Look up humblefish and New TTM for Ich and Velvet
Get them eating first. If they wont eat then they will be weak and die.
After those 2 weeks or during you can work out the prazi... metro or .. to rid them of parasites

For cycle there is no need for fish
Fritz Turbo start 900 and some ammomnia with a good test kit is all you need

1.Get group 1 through QT and into DT first. This will give the butterfly time to establish and get eating.

2. If you have a main DT now, take some filter floss and place it in your sump to grab some beneficial bacteria from there to seed the QT. Should be in the DT for 3 to 4 weeks. If not grab a bacteria in a bottle product like Dr Tim's. You can add the liverock directly to your DT and seed with bacteria and get a pod population in there as well.

3. Rollermat should be fine

4. Copper level does not fluctuate with evap as long as you are replacing the same amount of water. Get the Hanna Copper checker and my preference for Copper is Copper Power. Be sure copper level in waterchange water is the same as the QT level.

I didnt know about that methode, ill do some research on it, almost sounds to good to be true ;) Getting rid of some of the poison is always a good idea, but it has been a tried and true method for decades, i have some more reading to do!

Good to know the copper level wont fluctuate, it will be a lot easier to get a big batch made and measured up front. With the rollermat and auto waterchanges this might be easier then expected, just need to monitor close.

I dont have a DT running at the moment so bacteria it is.

Thanks for the quick support fellas!
