Fish list/introduction order for new 150 gallon reef

Hello friends. Exciting things are happening. Tank is cycling now so I want to plan what fish will go in. Here is a list of a few, please add or subtract. I REALLY want a blue throat trigger or Niger trigger, so please tell me when I should place those (first, middle, last)?


Pair of Clowns -- add 1st
Pair of purple firefish ----- Add 2nd
Caribbean pygmy angel fish --3rd
Foxface
Flame hawkfish
Naso Tang , yellow Tank, OR blue Tang- which one?
Blue Throat Trigger OR Niger Trigger- Add last or before tangs
A Few gobies.

That's all for now I guess

I don’t think a 4’ 250 gallon is suitable for a Naso Tang or Blue tang. If you want a paid, a Kole is fine and a yellow is a bit marginal. I think the triggers all need larger tanks.

Also, I would not add the clowns first. They can be aggressive. I would add them well down the list.

The tank size is 5x2x2. Not 4 foot. Online I read blue throat triggers need minimum 125 gallon.

Yeah, firefish are pretty passive, so he can definitely go in very early in the stocking.

Are you quarantining these fish and treating preventatively for ich/velvet/flukes, etc? That's going to make a big difference down the line when you're ready to add those tangs.

I've never quarantined fish. Are all tangs risky for disease?

All fish are risky.

Tangs have a thinner slimecoat than most of the fish we keep, and are frequently referred to as "ich magnets". Andrewkw's right, though ... any fish can catch a parasite, and easily bring it into your tank. Once it's there, it can burn through your collection with dismaying speed . . .

It’d be better not to get fish....

Take it from a guy who lost a fully stocked 10 year old 160g reef loaded with rare fish. Velvet took them all, every last one. I’m just now jumping back into the hobby following an 8 year break after that total disaster.
