Thank you all so much for your help!! I think I'm down to making the Final Cuts before I proceed. Do you see any conflicts with this list. This will be a 55 gal LPS tank with SPONGES and CLAMS with 2 very large open pieces of pukani. 55 gal fuge and will be farming pods, brine, and phytoplankton.

4 carberryi anthias
3 wrasses
Pink streaked
Katoi
Leopard
2 Mandarins. M&F
2 Blennies
Tailspot
Orange spotted
2 Yellowhead Jawfish
2 Firefish
Purple
Helfrichi's
Royal Gramma
1-2 Yasha Gobies (M&F) with
1-2 Candy striped pistol shrimp
2 Peppermint shrimp
2 Scarlett Skunk Cleaners
1 Emerald crab
1 sandsifting Tiger cucumber
1 pink horned cucumber
1 orange leaf sponge
1 red finger sponge
1 blue clam
Trocus and nassarius snails
Urchins

So what conficts do you see?
What would you cut?
Can we be less pink somehow?

Thank you!!!!

The tank is too small for this fish, 4 carberryi anthias, they need multiple feedings a day.
Orange spotted should be expert only and feeding requirement are intensive.
Fire fish are going to fight unless you get them very young and a trio is better.
A Royal Gramma may take issue with the Fire Fish, similar body shape and coloration is sometimes a trigger to aggression.
I would pick either the Mandarins ( once tank is established) or the Blennies or the Gobies but not all three types. You have a list with a lot of fish that reside in the lower part or sand bed of the tank, like the Jaw Fish, in a 55 gallon that is going to be an issue.

The total volume of the water works in your favor but the available real estate in the display is an issue.

:-)

Thanks for your thoughts Tahoe61!!

So Orange spotted is out. If i dont add the tail spot, and maybe not the Katoi wrasse, and added a foxface would that be better or worse? Other algee eaters you would suggest!!

Also if given the option of a firefish trio or the gramma i would go with the trio. Is that a mistake? Im less attached to both of these than the others.

Thanks for your help!!

Have you considered a flame hawkifsh? That could add more movement higher up in the tank. I agree on needing enough real estate lower in the tank A lot of the fish on your list like to burrow. Oh and what about cardinal fish? I've just started reading more about them because there are more varieties than I realized.

Best of luck!

@eatbreakfast for assist.

I would go with the Wrasse.

Fox Face are awesome fish but they get too big too fast and they make working in your smaller tanks a nightmare. I steer clear of fish that have the potential to inflict pain in smaller tanks. They are skittish are happier in a larger tank.

I tagged mod eatbreakfast, he is an excellent resource for just this type of question.

I think the hawkfish would get my shrimp. I really just dont like the 5-6 cardinals ive seen.

The lots of burrowing is by design, but i have no idea how much is too much. Its a mandarin tank, and i would really like to keep the goby pistol pair and the jawfish. I feel like i need a blenny for algee...

Whoops, I did not see the shrimp on your list. Never mind on him.

Okay. I'm thinking no orange spot, no firefish, no gramma, one yasha and one jawfish. Maybe that would work...
