So this morning I woke up to a disgusting sight. My diamond-spotted goby was stuck in my mp40, sideways along the top of the wet side of the powerhead. He was still alive as one could see he was trying to wriggle free, but his tail had been shredded to pieces. No chance.

I wanted to make a picture to show you, but it's actually too sad and graphic. So I didn't.

I've had the mp40 and mp10 for over a year now and never seen anything like this before.

It was a healthy fish, yesterday still building its sand castles, it was chased now and again by the lawnmower blenny, this was probably the cause.

Has anyone had healthy fish presumably taken out by powerheads? #distraught #girlfriendevenmoreupset

Never had a fish that wasn't struggling already get taken out by a powerhead. The suction on them isn't strong enough to suck in a healthy fish in my experience.

Now.... kamikaze anemones on the other hand..... that's a whole different story.

Thats why I still have my ugly ones with a cage on them, or a "downspout intake" so I can put sponge filters.on them when I go to town turkey basting rocks. Do you have it set so that run 24/7 or do they kick on and off multiple times a day?

They in pulse mode, 24/7. The mp40 kicks pretty hard.

Id throttle them back to a power you like and run them 24/7 so the fish always know that current is strong in that area. Bottom line is weird stuff still happens. Also sry about your loss man... We take all these precautions and things still happen :(

I think they have a foam piece you can buy to put around them. Ive heard of anemones doing this too and crashing tanks when shredded and sprayed everywhere.
