I'm trying to put a list together both for myself and for anyone out there who may be curious.
I notice it's usually a repeated kind of thing
"My fish have ___, they're dying what I do"
"You need to do a ____ bath, then put in a tank with copper"
"I don't have ___, I just ordered it but it arrives in a few days"
And then more often than not, the fish dies and there's a wipe out. That's what happened to me at and it's heartbreaking to say the least.
The goal here is to make a list of essentials, so new reefers can get them early rather than after they need it. This can include stuff for emergency, or to Medicate new fish before adding them to the DT
The quarentine tank part is simple and everyone should have one set up, if not ready to go.
This includes
-10-15 gallon tank -$10 at wal mart (or less if found used)
- HOB filter - $15
-airstones + air pump -$15 Walmart
-heater -$10
-bag of salt (amazon sells 50 Gallon bags of IO for $10)
You can probably store all of this, and the bottles of medication in the 10 gallon tank when it's not in use.
Bigger tanks would be needed for bigger fish.
But for medication itself. It would be appreciated if anyone with input could take a moment to answer the following, possibly saving someone down the road from a situation where they're unprepared.
1) what do you keep in your aquarium medicine cabinet or on hand? Both for emergency or new fish (impulse buys)
2) what does your emergency hospital setup generally look like?
