I have a Powder Blue Tang that seems to be developing some sort of fungal infection. I first thought that my Purple Tang had tagged him in a fight. Its a tiny spot that is grayish in color and raised from body. I feel like scraping it off with my fingernail. I was wondering if there are any medications out there that is safe to use in a coral tank? Should I just try soaking food in garlic extract to maybe boost his immune system? Any suggestions would be appreciated

IMO if the tang is eating good soaking the food in garlic will boost his immune system and help him aid of the infection
I have found out a good product from KZ its call Immun Stabile Fish
I had an Anthias with a big pop eye and treating the fish with this product cure it in a week. Also when they are stress that show ike signs i also treat them with this product

Rather than stressing the fish with some treatment, I think eggie is right. Soak food in garlic, feed a good balanced diet, and let the fish fight off the infection. Also note that fish have a better chance of fighting off minor things, such as this appears to be based on your description, if water conditions are excellent. Maybe do an extra water change, make sure you have fresh carbon, change your carbon weekly, and make sure you have good flow.

I figured doing the garlic soak would be the best option. I also did a small water change last night. I'm feeding mysis, nori, pellets and flake daily all in small quantities. I'll keep going with soaking the food in garlic and keeping a close watch.

Just an update. I started to notice a couple of bumps along the lateral line on both sides maybe 4 days ago. I noticed today that they seem to be getting smaller and the fungus type spot seems to not have spread. He was pretty thin when I purchased him but is putting on some weight with a varied diet so I'm thinking/hoping he'll pull through. Always has been a great feeder so this is a plus.
