i have a small Achilles that is not putting on weight. He went through QT and lost a lot of weight. He had full round of CP, prazi, got a bacterial infection, resolved with kana and metro. (Documented in another thread; Let QT Begin) In that time he got so skinny I could see his spine. He's now happy in my DT. Been in my DT for 2 weeks and happy as can be. I feed 2-3 times a day with LRS, spirulina brine, nori. He eats every feeding but has not put all his weight on. I can still partially see his spine, not sure if he's fattening up or not. How long should it take to put weight on?

He will over the next few weeks...
You could try enriching the food with something like selcon

Have you seen any white stringy poop come out of him? Does his stomach look pinched?

No stringy poop, no pinched stomach. It's big after he eats a lot. Normal brown poop. He looks slightly fatter. Just curious how long it should take for him to add noticeable weight

Give the tang enough nori that it can graze for 1/2 to 3/4 of the day. Achilles throw down on red nori.

Live blackworms might help as they're quite nutritious. Might help introduce some oil in to his gut as well.

Achilles have very high metabolisms -- but grazing all day on nori will help immensely.

I have trouble keeping nori in the tank. They constantly rip it off and it goes into the overflow.
What kind of nori are you feeding?

Try double or tripple folding it.

It's the Julian sprung green. I've been folding it twice and cutting strips in it. I'll try not cutting the strips see how that works

Ocean nutrition red and green nori hold up pretty well, IME. When I had 9 tangs they threw down on it and it held up pretty well, considering!

It may take a couple weeks. The high metabolism will make it slower going than some other fish out there. Keep the food available for him and he'll put the weight back on. It's great that he's eating and doing well for you! The fact that you have him disease free is half the battle!
