SCIENTIFIC NAME - Platax pinnatus

COMMON NAME - Pinnate Platax, Redfin Batfish

SIZE - 17.7" (45 cm )

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 200 US Gal. (757 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - May not feed in captivity, vitamin enriched Brine shrimp, live black worms, small pieces of fresh shrimp, squid, frozen Mysis shrimp, frozen preparations for herbivores. feed 3 times a day.

REEF COMPATIBILITY - Will eat many kinds of sessile invertebrates, corals and Anemonies.

CAPTIVE CARE - A deep tank with plenty of unobstructed swimming room is needed, it is shy and needs adequate hiding places, non aggressive tank mates a must, more than one can be kept in large systems.

Yep on of the prettiest fish in the ocean, at least for a little while. Hard to believe they turn into this isn't it!

I had to look a bit but re-found this article about a breeder in Indonesia called Bali Aquarich who has had very good success with Captive bred Pinnatus Bats and I thought maybe everyone might like to see it. the article is from 2011 but there is more about Bali Aquarich on Reef Builders if you search.
