Curious, does a fish-only tank have the same purification/filtration requirements as a mixed reef tank?
While building out my 120, there is another spot in the same room what would fit a 180-210 fish-only tank very nicely.

mechanical filtration/Skimmer/Refugium, etc

Yeah, pretty much. Without corals you have even less of a bio filter so I'd say a skimmer, fleece roller, etc. are at least as important if not more. A UV is a must. You may not need any kind of GFO but carbon never hurts.

In my fowlr, I have fleece roller and skimmer. Run carbon occasionally to remove yellow water/organics.

I 2nd UV being a must. I run filter socks, skimmer, Aquauv, and chaeto wouldn’t hurt if you have the room for it

Do it!
I am building out my 200 peninsula FOWLR
I will run UV, skimmer, carbon/GFO reactor if needed
but i am mostly excited to try out ozone.

depending the type of fowlr you do will might need bigger filtration than a mixed free.
most of the aggressive fish are messy

Fish more so as oxygen and water quality play a role in both disease resistance/management and overall heath of the fish
