i believe it depends on the coral......most softies are pretty hardy......if you get into SPS then they are the most sensitive SPS are not good starters......some LPS like frogspawn and candycane are pretty hardy....

as far as fish go it depends on the type....chromis and the cheper things like that are pretty hardy.
what type of fish/coral are you thinking about?

Well, currently i have frogspawn, 2 types of Zoas a small frag of brain coral and 2 rics, for corals

CUC is 2 fireshrimp 6 hermits 4 snails

i just added 2 clowns today and i guess i'm not sure how they should be acting, they are staying pretty much on 1 side of the tank and not exploring too much, i did feed them after i added them into the tank, and they ate lot

the corals and CUC have been in the tank for over a week

To answer your general question with a general answer FISH will be more affected but it depends on what the bad parameter is.

I would have to disagree. Fish can handle higher levels of ammonia and nitrite than most corals. And tons mre nitrate. Corals can be very sensitive to these things in many cases. Fish are not far behind though because of cours they have to drink more water.

Now, that being said, I thik the real question you are looking to answer is whether or not your fish are acting normally. Probably so. Most fish tend to be a little slow to start exploring the new surroundings.

What are your water parameters? If they are all within normal limits fish should be fine unless you did not acclimate them. hey may be in shock. If they ate heartily I would not worry too much yet.

yeah that is basicly my question, all the water params are fine. the corals i added a week ago are doing great.

Just worried about the fish, he seems stressed, i did acclimate him, floated them for about an hour and added water from the tank slowly.

1 of the clowns seem alot less stressed he has moved from the back of the tank and is cruzing around the middle now, i hope the other will be ok.

i found a post with a clown that is doing the same thing mine is. but there was never a conclusion lol. Just sitting at the back of the tank in the lower flow area breathing faster then normal. i have left the lights off most of the day hoping this will clam him down a bit.

My statement was based only on personal experience. So I could be completely wrong. I can’t remember the last time I lost a coral but if it has gills I can kill it. I can tell if a coral looks unhappy and act before it becomes a real problem but fish seem happy one day and dead the next. Maybe my powers of observation are limited to coral. So I very rarely buy fish anymore. The funniest part is I have a few aquarium service accounts and one is a fish only. All my customers fish do great.

I have had coral I could not keep alive before without perfect water.....also have had fish the same way.
