I guess i didn’t do enough research, seems like every next step is more$. How do you guys handle quarantine, another tank, a bucket, is there a budget way to handle it,thanks

Feel your pain ;Bored

Very true. You don't really get away with having "a fish tank."

QT is way less demanding. Got mine at a yard sale. $40 for 20g tank, stand, and hob filter. Any light bright enough to get the fish to eat.

The first few months, the spending never stops. Once your basic system is in place, it does slow down.

Petco has their $1 per gallon sale going on right now as well. I usually have the sponge for a sponge filter floating around in my sump until I need it. That way I already have a seeded filter media.

I hear you! But like others I bought a combo of 20G tank, cover with LED lighting, heater, and HOB filter from Persmart while on sale for my QT. Whole package was less than the price of a tank.

It’s a pain to have a second tank. But i look at the QT as insurance. I’d rather spend the $$ on a cheap QT tank and lose a new fish or two (esp if I have a 14 day warranty) than putting an infected or sick fish into my DT and watching it destroy my tank.
