My starry blenny lost its life today but when I went to get him of the tank his color was a light gray color we while the rest of him was black
had for five days any idea why he died

Fish colors typically get washed out after dying.
Without knowledge of how the fish looked and acted before dying, tank age, if the fish was quarantined, tank parameters, and what other fish were in the tank, there isn’t much of a way we can help.

Sorry Jed.. all kinds of unknowns... how long had it been in the LFS before you picked it up, and how is the general condition of other fish there... could have had a hard trip from the airport to the wholesaler to the LFS to you...

How old is your tank and what kind of grazing was it able to do.. I try to add Lawnmower types to tanks that have a little age on them to make sure thee is something to graze even if they are eating flakes etc otherwise.

did you have a QT set up for it?

unfortunately sometimes that first week is a time for things to settle out and sometimes they settle on the wrong side of the balance

So sorry, may not have been anything in your control, let the tank age a little and spend a little tie with your LFS and try again..
