Hello! I’m looking to add another fish to my 25 gallon mixed reef. Currently have a pair of occelaris clownfish and a Randall’s goby. I tried to add another Randall’s goby to pair them, but sadly the established one killed the much smaller new one, so I won’t be looking to add a second one again unless I somehow find one that’s much bigger than the established one.

Im looking for a fish recommendation for a new addition, preferably something that isn’t super common yet is super interesting/cool to look at.

I was looking at any kind of filefish yet I don’t know if they would work in a 25 gallon.

I’ll look at any recommendations, thanks!

Geometric Pygmy hawk fish is a cool little guy that you don’t see in many tanks

Not all of these are unusual in the hobby but all of them are interesting to watch;

Gobies:
Gobiodon acicularis/okinawae/unicolor/histrio/citrinus
Koumansetta hectori/rainfordi
Stongobiops yasha/nematodes

Blennies:
Meiacanthus grammistes/oualanensis/kamoharai/smithi
Escenius stigmatura/bicolor/lineatus/bimaculatus/midas/namiyei/pictus
Salarias segmentatus/ramosus

Wrasses:
Wetmorella albofasciata/tanakai/nigropinnata
Pseudocheilinops ataenia

Pipefish:
NEED aged tanks w/ enough pods to sustain them!
Dunkerocamphus dactyliophorus/pessuliferus
Doryrhamphus excisus
Corythoichthys intestinalis

Jawfish:
Opistognathus aurifrons/randalli/rufilineatus/whitehurstii

Anthias:
Plectranthias inermis/pelicieri

Basslets:
Serranus baldwini/tortugarum

Hope this helps and adds a few ideas to your head - These are just ideas for you to pick off and take down to one or two. Some of them need more research than others. Definitely research jawfish and pipefish as some of them have specific care requirements.
