How do I make my corals (acros) super secure on the rockwork? I use a superglue tunze coral gum super glue sandwich but it is not super secure. They will stay but it is not hard to rip them off. My queen angel and moorish idol do not eat them, they pick at the rockwork and hit any given coral once a week. But they literally rip an acro off the rock every week. And half the time they die. I am sick of spending money on coral, quarantining them for 52 days, only to have them come off the rock and die. The tunze coral gum is very easy to work with but not very strong. Should i use real epoxy and put a mound of epoxy around the corals that are left. I am open to ideas, this madness has to stop. And again, the fish are not killing the corals per say. The only ones dying are the ones coming off the rock. I have a homewrecker that was ripped off a month ago that turned almost white. Miraculously it totally recovered but it probably wont next time.

Try aquarium epoxy if the other thing isn’t working for you. I like Instant Ocean epoxy which stays hard. The other option would be to get a frag rack or remove the coral from the plugs and glue it straight to the rock.

Ooh! I have the perfect solution!!

Use BSI’s IC Gel! It’s super strong (I can’t even pull acro frags unless if I try REALLY hard). It’s a cyanoacrylate super glue with the perfect gel consistency.

Just put a medium glob on the part of the frag you want to attach (do that outside the water).

When you put the frag with the glob of glue under water, a bubble layer instantly forms. You need to break this bubble to get the bond you’re looking for…by smushing the glob to the rock! Smush the glue side to side to the rock and notice how it gets harder and stiffer to move; then it’ll be stuck on GOOD.

You’re welcome. :)

I bought some of the bsi super glue and I have some epoxy. I am going to do some tests and see what I can get to hold best. Tests will be just super glue, just epoxy, both, and then see how they compare to what I am currently doing.
