What kind of fish? Have had your hands in the tank recently?

Very normal behavior especially with new arrivals. Some things to verify that contribute to this behavior:
- new arrivals
- intimidation by other occupants. Clowns for sure
- stray voltage in water
- lights very bright
- location (eg: nest to a floor/table lamp which gets switched on)
- At or near an area where there is steady floor traffic such as a doorway or entry way

it took MONTHS for the single yellow watchmen goby to feel at home in the 10g holding tank. He is the only fish, only two people in the house, and still took months to adjust.

WE HAVE A LARGE SCRIBBLED ANGEL/EMPEROR ANGEL/GEM/HIPPO/BLONDE NASO/WHITESPINE/ SOME WRASSES, ETC. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, YES I HAD MY HANDS IN THE TANK RECENTLY, BUT I ALWAYS DO, MAINTENANCE,MAINTENANCE,MAINTENANCE.

SIDE NOTE, WHICH VETTE AND WHAT YEAR, I HAVE A 2017 GS

Worthy of note for posterity, some diseases can manifest as light aversion, marine velvet and flukes in particular.

However in this case if you just changed lights that often causes fish to be somewhat disoriented. It can take time for fish to get used to new lights, or any change in lighting schedule or intensity.

You said not all the fish but just some fish are hiding more? could there be aggression manifesting as these fish have grown and become more established. Large Angels and Tangs can become more boisterous as they age and grow. Some wrasses can become nasty as they age. Which particular fish are the ones who are suddenly hiding?

Good morning. This start happening a month ago, I just happened to change the lights Friday. They have been hiding a little more than usual, more suspect of me when I get closer. Never really been that way. They have really grown in size. I will keep an eye out , and feed them by hand a little more, maybe that will build trust again. Thank you for your reply!!!!!

GOOD EVENING, DID YOU SEE MY REPLY?
You have some fish that are known for developing attitudes as they get larger and more mature. Any new chasing or posturing?
