Fish sitting on bottom

LFS has a grouper that lays on the bottom or the rocks. Is not capable of ganging in the column. Behaves like a goby. Perfectly fine otherwise. Eats. Can swm to the top. Any ideas on whats causing this? He is able to swm.

Could be a swim bladder problem, but what species of grouper? A few species will prop themselves up on the bottom, a lot like hawkfish do.

Please post video of the fish as it tries to swim. Any bloating?
Breathing normal or labored?

Sorry its at the fish store I do not have a pic. Its a Grasby Grouper. Could this be normal for the Graysby? Its not a common fish in the hobby.

Yes - Graysby groupers are one species that spend a lot of time on the bottom, perched up on its pectoral fins - like this:

Ok thanks. He still swims like a Goby (I bought him). But I love Groupers and he sure looks cool. I have him with my Clown Grouper who is the calmest Grouper I've ever owned. So hopefully they will be ok. I've seen people keep Clowns and Panthers together.
