I am trying to figure out what would be an appropriate fish stocking list for my 120 gallon tank. I am noticing my Cave Basslett is not out and about nearly as much and this morning I noticed that it looked a little roughed up on its left side.
The basslett was the first fish put in the tank on the 9’th, and on the 23’rd a bluespot jawfish and a melanurus wrasse were added to the tank. I have not seen the wrasse behave aggressively towards the basslett, but it will cruise the same areas of the tank that the basslett would normally hang out at.
I do not want to build my fish population around my Cave Basslett, but I do want to try to keep it healthy and alive. So my question is what type of fish would you add to this population to help everything be more cohesive if at all possible?
My remaining intended stocking list included:
Yellow Eye Kole Tang
Blackcap Jawfish
Percula Clownfish (pair)
Circus Goby (pair)
I have noticed that my list does not have any schooling dither fishes. I have/am considering getting a small schoal of blue/green chromis to thin out any aggression (or extra curiousity the wrasse may have), but I realize that if I put 10 chromis in the tank eventually I will end up with 1 ultimately… So I see that as more of a band aid than a solution. I rather enjoy smaller non aggressive reef fish, for what that is worth.
So what do you think?
