I welcome tang owners and tang police. I would like some input and opinions for my stock list for my Reefer 425.

Currently have:

2 Ocellaris Clowns
2 Platinum Clowns
1 Rainfordi Goby

Would like to add in the future:

1 Royal Gramma
1 Six Line Wrasse
1 Green Mandarin Dragonet
1 Tang - Powder Blue, Powder Brown, Purple, Yellow, Tomini, Kole

Of the Tangs, which one do you recommend I add or avoid? I would love a Powder Blue or Brown, but I realize they can be susceptible to diseases. Who has a PBT that is friendly and has always been healthy? I would purchase a tang only from a dealer who has quarantined the fish.

Can you think of another tang that would be a great option?

Thanks.

Looks like the 425xl is 47x22x22".

It really isn't big enough long term for a powder blue or brown.

One of the other 4 would work. Kole ot tomini would be *best.

You may have trouble in the future with more than one pair of clowns.

I’d do the tomini, the rest of the tangs get way to big and hyper for 4’ tanks unfortunately.

Thanks for the input! I've previously owned a Kole and Yellow before. They were easy. I gather Tominis are pretty hardy as well. I do like the orange on their fins!

Yea I had two clowns in my EVO and then when I bought this 425 used, it came with the 2 Platinums. I definitely wouldn't have two pairs otherwise. Have others successfully had two pairs or is it hit or miss?

I have the same aquarium and love my Orange Shoulder Tang. Model citizen and does not grow as fast as the other tangs. Will have to re-home in a few years but enjoy him everyday!
