Anyone ever used a Rubbermaid container to house about 5 fish in for a week or so? If so what equipment will I need other than my current powerhead heater and air stone? If I filled up a 30 gallon container with say 15-20 gallons of water could I house them in it for a week or so? The container is 30 inches long 18 inches wide and would have about 12 inches of water in it.

Brand new to the hobby and just bought an entire saltwater setup. Ive had the livestock which includes 2 triggers, blue tang, clownfish and some corals in a spare tank with just a heater and powerhead. All have been thriving and ive been doing small water changes due to the lack of filtration.

How long have they been in there?

I would think that you need some form of biological filtration like like rock from an existing tank and other bio filter media, something to process the ammonia down to nitrate.

You can keep fish in pretty much anything short term as long as you provide heat, water movement, and nutrient removal (whether that is through constant water changes which is normally the easiest in smaller containers, or with biological media).

I have about 15lbs of rock that I’m gonna throw in there that used to be in my old tank. Other than that I planned on 5 gallon water changes every other day
