Hey reefers,

I’m down under in Australia right now and I’m curious if anyone knows of any stores or places I can visit in the area? I’m in Melbourne Australia near Rosanna. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I met some of the other wildlife already! Enjoy.

Great shots and thanks for saying hello.

We have a lot of members from the down under.
When I come across one, I'll be sure to ask about reef shops in the Melbourne area.

There is Reeflections Aquarium at 877 Nepean Hwy, Bentleigh VIC 3204, the owner Ernie is awesome. There is Williamstown aquarium at 368 Kororoit Creek Rd, Williamstown North VIC 3016, the owner Jack is a great bloke and has great stock and there is also Deer Park Aquarium at 4/87 Station Rd, Deer Park VIC 3023 which is closed today, the owner Dave is very knowledgeable and always helpful. The closest Aquarium to Rosanna is Coburg Aquarium at 232-236 Bell St, Coburg VIC 3058 but they don't have a large range of marine as they are more of a cover all store with freshwater, reptiles, turtles and marine.

There are many others but I really like the first three and visit them most :)

Hope that helps :D

Other places to visit would be Melbourne zoo or Healesville sanctuary, Dandenong ranges national park, Puffing Billy railway also the Great Ocean rd which leads to the Otway ranges national park and the Twelve apostles coast. Further inland is Bendigo goal mine tours or Echuca with the Murray river paddle steamers and plenty more depending on how long your here.

Our Victorian marine club MASOV has a meeting this Saturday the 24th and you could always pop in for a look and this Sunday is Formula 1 in Melbourne which could be interesting.

Can you answer a question that I always wanted to know?

Thanks for the advice! We made it out to mount Martha yesterday, along with the moonlit sanctuary and the mornington hot springs. It was amazing but unfortunately no pictures from the hot springs.

Where do you guys meet on the 24th would be honored to pop in quick if I have the time.

Can’t wait to hear some
Engines going through Melbourne!

Thanks again!

Do you live in Australia and if so, whats the price of saltwater fish down there?

I live in central Victoria in Australia 90km from Melbourne and fish prices can vary but some examples would be yellow tangs are about $80 au, copperband butterfly about the same, bagaii cardinals about $35, I saw and Achilles tang recently for $650 a purple tang is about $250 and I saw a powder brown tang for $75 last week. We get a lot of fish from asia and Hawaii although quite a lot are collected in queensland as well.

Hope that helps

Thanks,
The tangs are a tad higher than in the US, when you do the conversion.

There is another aquarium not far from Rosanna you could try.
Lifestyle aquarium at 13/445 Grimshaw St, Bundoora VIC 3083
It's been a few years since we have been there but have heard it is not to bad. Being so close to you it could be worth a stop.

Like uglyman, the first 3 he has listed are our main port's of call :)

Welcome to R2R sorry I have no information about LFS from Down Under. :(
