Fish stores in the Long Island area

Pretty funny actually I’ll be in garden city for another appointment ffriday so maybe I’ll swing by then. I’ll have to squeeze it in as the wife wants to go get wedding license done o_O

You: Sure honey, We'll get our marriage license done as long as we to go a fish store........

I'm on the island and I'm about a mile from Pets warehouse and about 6 miles from Tropical Island aquarium. I find both places to be good. I like tropical island aquarium a little more for their selection of corals and fish. They are clean and the staff is knowledgeable.s With pets warehouse 1 mile away, I go there quite a bit for supplies and some corals. Have not had the need to venture further with these two places but I think I will check a couple of the othe recommended stores that were discussed.

Found a blackman plumbing store that had my fittings in stock but paid double of what I pay at BRS

Make a day trip of it, lol. visit Aquarium Village, Pets Warehouse and AMA, lol. they're all pretty close together
My go to shops. Aquarium Village, Pets Warehouse (Carle Place) and Advanced Aquarium. All three stores are close to where I work. Advanced is 10 min away so I usually go during my lunch break when I get a chance. The other two are on my way home so I can stop off at Pets Warehouse first and 10 min away stop at Aquarium Village. Three other decent shops that I've been to are Total Aquariums in Lynbrook, Caribbean Blue in Bayshore, and Fishlife Aquariums across from the Walt Whitman Mall. I keep hearing good things about Tropical Island so I think I'll take a ride out there tomorrow and it's been a while since I visited Fishlife so I'll make a stop on the way back.

Waiting for them to open !

Went there yesterday. Glad I am close by. I believe the best day to visit is Tuesday. They are closed on Monday. Got a couple of acros from them.

You must be one of the vendors :)
Picked these up.

Wow. Sorry to hear that you saw dead fish in the tanks. Wonder what happened.
How are the prices there? I was thinking going there this weekend to Advanced Marine to check them out.

I got a chance to go to Tropical Island on Sunday. Nice store, clean with a big coral selection. I have a small complaint and I'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding, but when I got home and the Zoas opened up they weren't the ones I asked for.
I pointed out the Zoas I wanted and also said the ones on the end of the rack so there was no confusion. I then walked away to look at another tank to see if I wanted anything else while he was talking with another customer before getting my Zoas. I changed my mind and decided with just the Zoas, by this time he had already bagged them, I paid and left. While dipping them before going into the tank I noticed the polyps looked small, but I figured they were stressed and wait until they start to open up. After an hour or so they started to open and that's when I realized they aren't the ones I asked for. Once they opened up the color was way off and the polyps were a lot smaller than the ones I wanted. I can only blame myself because I should have been there when he was taking them out of the tank. Although they are not the ones I wanted I'll keep them anyway because they look pretty good. I'll still go back because it is a nice store. One thing I did learn from this, always be there when they are taking the frag out of the tank.
;FacepalmUgh! and while reading over this thread I noticed instead of Advanced Marine Aquatics I keep calling them Advanced Aquarium, for some reason that is stuck in my head. Another fine store, my apologies.
