Hi,

I'm looking to add a fish or two to my Biocube 29 and am looking for suggestions. The tank is a well established mixed reef that is currently home to a peppermint pistol shrimp and Randalls goby living in the DSB, a cleaner shrimp and sexy shrimp. Ideally, I'm looking for something that's peaceful, colorful, somewhat active, but is content in a smaller aquarium. I'm thinking something along the lines of a firefish, royal gramma, or banggai cardinal. I've had all 3 of those fish in the past and would like to try something new (but am not opposed to those either). I don't want anything I add to eat my shrimp or wreak havoc on my rockwork or DSB. Any suggestions? Not sure what my budget is, but maybe up to $200.

Thanks!

How about a yellow or blue assessor? Colorful, tend to spend a fair amount of time out and about - especially in the morning and evening. And they're swimming behavior (sideways, upside down, and occasional loops) is entertaining to watch.

My favorite fish for that size are:
Chalk bass
Geometric Pygmy Hawkfish
Possum Wrasse
Matted Filefish
Barnacle Blenny
Green Chromis
Or even a seahorse if you have the means to care for it.
