Well the 55 gallon reef tank has been up and running for over a month doing very well with the clean up crew (peppermint shrimp and snails) The wife wants to ad a fish or fishes today. I have already convinced her NO damsels. What would you guys recommend?

A lot of people start off with a pair of clowns. I personally started with one black and one orange Percula clown

There's so many fish out there, personally I'm a goby/blenny fan....once they become acclimated to their surroundings they are active cool little fish....good first additions too as most are fairly hardy under the right conditions.

Bangai cardinals,clowns, gobies, wrasses.

Good choices, what species of clowns are you thinking? Just a heads up that they can sometimes get more aggressive when they are some of the 1st fish added to the tank.....let us know what you end up with!

Don't forget to post pics of the new additions!!

Maybe you could start with:Designer Clowns
a group of PLatiums
and 2 group of Blacker Ice

It is an interesting combo :)

melanarus wrasse. great fish and will eat flat worms, lawn mower blenny

We ended up deciding on a Chromis, but he seems to be doing really well. They didn't have another one otherwise we would have gotten two. He eats like a pig and the shrimp keep molting soooo... everything so far seems to be going good.

Gorgeous addition!!

Thanks!! We love him, he has a lot of character and he sure does know when its time to eat, he comes to the glass like a dog and sits there until I put his food in. So funny to watch.
