Ok so im a bit unsure here.. I have a chip in the corner of my fish tank and the tank was built in 1996. With that being said i was debating about resealing it and taking a chance with the chip... OR should i buy a aquon 75 from petco for 100 bucks and red till the new tank. Thoughts? Figured the silicone will cost a little over 10 bucks and then the work that has to go in to cleaning it and such.. Maybe a mew tank isnt so bad?

Are we talking upper corner or lower corner? How big of a chip? Got a picture?

If it was lower I would replace it. Otherwise I would not sleep at night. :)

And now from reading on this forum i will try to clean up my tank cause others 75 gallons are exploding dur to tempered glass from petco lol. Here comes some elbow grease

Like you said above I would not trust any glass on an aqeon tank without doing to polarized glass computer trick. Lots of tempered glass is ending up where it should not.

Best of luck either way! I am still going to vote a new tank, simply because a 23 year old tank is going to have unknown faults possibly.

I'd buy a new one & drill it. 100$ for peace of mind and considering the other costs to get that tank started wouldn't bother me a bit.

It is going to depend on how deep the chip is. Does it reach the silicone? If it reaches the silicone I would stay away and replace the tank. If it does not reach the silicone, personally, I would chance it. I have a DSA 190 with a chip in the corner about half way down, and it has been fine for 3 years. I would fill the chip with silicone, then wait a week for it to cure, then water test for at least another week before adding any stock to the tank.

It does not reach it as i think it has a 1/8 of an inch to it. How was thinking also just to add a little bit more silicone in that area and silicone is super strong with glass also.

It's gonna look ugly, just an fyi.

It's very hard to get silicone to make a corner. I'll post a pic of mine when I get home

Here's my best attempt at filling a chip on a corner.

The worst part is you really only have one shot at it. You run the risk off making it worse getting the "repair" out
