So my lvls are looking good shown in another post. 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite for about 3 days now. Either tomorrow or Friday or Sat depending on how I feel after work I want to get some live stock.

Am I ok to get 2 small clowns ? Also can I get some corals too or are they considered live stock and really should not do everything at once ? I was think of getting some Xenia for a island I have. Possibly a Frogspawn for the clowns.

25 gal tank tank

Let me know what you guys think. I don't want to over do it. Or should I just get 1 Clown for now. Also how long between the fish and getting the coral if I can't get them at once.

Id wait on corals until u see corraline growing. If your planning for a pair of clowns i would get them at the same time....will be easier pairing now rather than after one is already established . Just my 2 cents:)

Thats what I was thinking, I just don't want the bio load too be too much adding in to at a time. But thats why I was thinking Xenia as it grows fast and easy, figure I can get something going while I wait for things to settle and calm down.

I agree with @reef lover If you want a pair of clowns get them at the same time. You can do it later but there's a lot more squabbling for position. Sense you are worries about bioload, add some Dr. Tim's only and only or stability. Most prefer Dr Tim's.

Tanks been up for almost a month. I started the cycle with Tims.

Same concept expect fish are expelling the ammonia.

Get a pair of clowns and the. Wait. Wait some more, then wait again lol. After you’ve had the clowns a month they look good and healthy, the waters not murky and the tank is doing ok, then add another fish or a coral.

Just be sure you get the clowns you like the best because only one set of clowns are going in that tank. They will fight if more than 2 clowns are in there.

Also thinking of getting some Chaeto. Am I better off getting the IM Chaetomax light and putting it in my back sump or building one of those reactors.

Im going the other way
Get 2 small clowns. Get some coral too. It will help add a diversity of bacteria. Hardy ones will most likely survive.
Chaeto: If you dont have the nutrients in your new tank then it might not survive. Sump or reactor will be about the same as long as water flow, light and nutrients are equal.

thanks for you input @lapin , for the reactor im referring to I guess the higher chance of issues vs the sump. The dyi builds I have read about the leds cracking the reactor causing leaks. Also I guess if you didn't do something right or your tubing gets loose you could also have a leak vs the sump is attached to the tank. While on the plus side for a nano the reactor will hold a little bit of more water to the overall system. I would just be worried about leaks that my ATK would just keep filling the tank up dropping sal and killing everything. its 5 Gal so depending on when it happened thats 5 gal of water on the floor. Not sure if my Neptune would be smart enough to shut it down.

Would take me a week or more to get the reactor setup, probably install it when I do a water change.

There should be no problem with you adding a hardy coral like Xenia right now - same thing with the two baby clowns.

Obviously you want to be considerate of the bioload you will add to your tank - with that being said, many people have added two clowns at once right after a cycle with success - even in smaller tanks.
Adding them together may also help you avoid any compatibility or hostility/territory issues that can come with seperate.

I started an Anemone tank a month ago and just recently added a pair of Da Vinci clowns along with a cheap frag of Zoas to see how they do and so far no problems. The tank is entering the ugly stage and I'm getting diatoms right now, so everything is going along smoothly as planned. In a few months when the parameters are more stable I'll add some nems and eventually move a rock with a bunch of RBTA's from my main tank to this one.

For proper cheato you'll at some point need to add trace minerals for it. If you don't than your corals and cheato will suffer. Remember that if your cheato dies and you don't get it out, all that trace minerals go back into the water colum. If the cheato is large enough that could be toxic to your tank.

In my opinion, Clowns should be purchased in pairs.

Quarantine them before putting them into your display tank.

yeah not at that point that I have the option of quarantine. First tank so really nothing to kill off but themselves. Probably going to look at getting a smaller nano tank that I can do that with down the road. However I want it simple no ATK, basic lights ect.
