Are there any companies that provide quarantine service for purchase?

I am getting tired of failed quarantine adventures. Just wondering if a vendor actually provides healthy quarantined fish?

Thanks!

Diver's Den at Live Aquaria supposedly qt's the fish. Not sure what they do or for how long. At least fish bought through them have a decent warranty. If mine make it the 2 weeks, they seem to do well. Of course, getting them to live 2 weeks is a challenge. I'm running 50% or less. Got a batch in yesterday and 1 is on its way out, I suspect I'll lose 2 others who are not active yet

Divers Den seems to be our major QT vendor (not Live Aquaria, only the Divers Den section of Live Aquaria). They carry few fish, but I think Reef Wise does full QT. Cherry Corals offered full QT fish for awhile, but sadly they closed up fish sales.

That is sad. No LFS around??

@mcarroll there are several but all are 1 to 1.5 hours north, south and west of me. The trouble is, none of them offer any kind of guarantee. The place I used to buy most of my fish from is where I got the velvet that wiped out 9 out of 13 fish. The sand sifter goby & 2 chromis survived from that store. That was it. It didn't help that in those early days I added too many at one time, and didn't QT. I did get my 2 darwin clowns, mandarin, bangaii, and barber shop goby from another source but lost 2 bangaii's, 1 mandarin, and a firefish from that store. That's 5 out of 9, and not all the same trip. Another store, 2 purple queens, 2 dispar anthias. Have the dispars only now. Another store, 2 mandarins, lost 2 mandarins. Out of all the local bought fish over the last year plus, I have 11 fish in 2 displays. Running close to 50 % loss or more if you count the velvet outbreak, and money lost. Can't tell you how many I had purchased. I could go add them up as I keep good records...

It's very frustrating, especially losing a fish one day after receiving it and knowing that another might not make it. I can just tell it's not right. But at least since ordering online, I've not lost any money as all fish have died within the warranty time. I wish there was a good local store that had healthy fish. Now that I'm doing qt, may try that one store again. The owner might work with me as I told him why I no longer buy fish. but when I think of the fish that have died from LA and the ease and no questions, no pictures needed customer service, its hard to risk money locally.

The Reef Wise site does not say if it is a 'full' quarantine....how many days a fish is being kept and actually treated. It says the fish are being given 'baths' which is not the same.

Don’t take this the wrong way guys but how do
You know that they are really qt’ing these fish. For example for years we where under the impression that LA qt’s we now see that they don’t really qt.
The only qt you can trust is your own that’s what I say.

Nyaquatic say they qt also if you want to give them a try.

Hi there.....several years ago when I was a newbie...I had a lot of fish losses too...I was getting so frustrated....and I have multiple good LFS for me to easily go too. This is what happened to me to cause me loose fish....my reef tank salinity is kept at a stable 1.025...i always do a 45 min to hour drip acclimation....I incorrectly assumed that my fish stores fish tanks were at 1.025 or 1.024....so I would get the fish home...and because I was new at the time....drip the fish for a hour....but the fish in the tank...fish looked good but usually didn't eat...and would die in 3-4 days.

I finally figured out from talking to all the LFS I go too that most of them keeps fish systems including LA at 1.020 or lower....

So I learned a huge expensive lesson...so I ALWAYS check the salinity when I get home.... don't trust your LFS to give you correct info...I never buy fish in salinity below 1.020. When I get a fish home and it is 1.020-1.025 I drip 3-4 drips per second, and every 10 min I add a half cup of tank water to the acclimation container....for 60 min....have not lost a fish since I figured that out. I love my LFS I have around here...but they have told me their salinity was 1.025 and when I got home and checked it...it was 1.022....not saying this happened to you....but this was my issue...and it sure cost me money... except for LA because of their garuntee...

Also...when I can I buy fish from their coral systems...when is usually 1.025-1.026....

First and far most. Live Aquaria Divers Den fish are usually treated and quarantined like angels and tangs and fish like that. See their website for details.

They are relatively safe bet that they are ok. Now there are other fish that are just observed for 2 weeks and if they show no ill effects they are placed on the divers den. You will have to call to get the details on what QT procedure that fish has gone through. I was in disbelieve when one of my friends received a fish from Divers Den and it started to show signs of something and he called them and they explained the fish was only observed for 2 weeks. I had previously thought they treated all fish, but that is not true. So do your research on fish from Divers Den before just throwing them into your display if you think it was already treated and QT. That is what I used to do from Divers Den, but I will no long do so after I learned of this process.

Now I'm not saying anything bad about liveaquaria or divers den, so don't take this the wrong way. I almost exclusively buy all my fish from them. They are a great company and the fish are shipped well, and they have a good warranty and back their product. I highly recommend Live Aquaria for fish if you are looking for some.

Now that being said. I usually buy from their main website liveaquaria unless the fish is not available. I QT all the fish I receive from them now so it doesn't matter. Most of them that come in have internal parasites and must be treated. Be aware of flukes as well. Its best practice to QT all your fish anyway.

I drip acclimate. This last batch, I only tested one bag, the salinity was almost same as mine. I always do a water change the day before, and don't fill all the way so I can either add rodi water to get lower salinity or more saltwater to raise. I drip about 3 drops per second to begin with and after I remove half the water, I increase it. I do this for an hour.

I've not ordered from Diver's den and would still qt. I order from the main website.

Yea....let me add...I agree with others....I would never trust anyone to QT for me....even the most reputable LFS...or even LA or DD....which usually have excellent Livestock....
