Bought a Lemon Peel Angel a while back at the LFS. A while back being around a month. Acclimated him and put him in the tank. He immediately swam into and behind the rock. Haven't seen him since.

Should I just go about my business and leave him alone or should I tear the rock apart and scare him out.

Is this normal behavior for them? Tank is established with several other occupants, none of which have died or show signs of stress.

Kinda thinking he was a waste of money at this point.

How long has it been since you added him ?
Fish need to acclimate to new tanks. Being transferred is a stressful process and taking apart the rock work won’t do much

Define a while? Couple of days or over a week? That's not normal for a lemon peel. If it was a sand dwelling wrasse its possible.

Fish always do this. How big is your tank. If it’s 5g, be scared. :p

the lemon peel angels I have seen are usually very active. do you know if it is alive or not?

sounds extremely stressed to me ! You need to confirm if its alive or not...

Any other dwarf angels or tangs in the tank (those are the two most likely culprits to have issues with it)? So you have algae for the Dwarf Angel to feed on?

No other angels. 2 clowns some chromis, royal Gramma and inverts. I haven't tried any algae to feed him. My lfs said he was eating mysis so that's really all I've tried. I don't know if he comes out at night or not

When you say haven’t seen him do you mean literally never even catch a glimpse? If not I’d say it’s more likely that it’s dead.

I would agree, although if he has crabs they would probably pull it out into the open to eat it.
