Fish you will never keep... Nope Fish

A few years ago, my naive brother got a panther grouper. Beautiful fish. Grew quickly. Ate his other fish. Then died. NOPE!

I love my grouper!

Volitian Lions. Diet is costly and difficult to maintain, plus since I've been a lionfish diver for so long my instinct is to kill on sight so I don't trust myself to keep one and care for it to the best of my ability. I've been stung so many times now that a bee sting if worse so idc about the venomous part. But difficult diet, beady eyes, I know those things are tasty, they dont do much except harass other fish, and theyre so expensive to begin with? definitely a nope from me

Just added one immediately killed snails
Its interesting to hear others experience. i have a 4" clown trigger in my stuffed 150 mixed reef. I have lps, sps, anemones, two large clams, starfish, cleaner shrimp, hermits, snails. only thing he has touched is a snail that fell upside on the sand. Now, he did kill it, and he does guard the algae clip, but otherwise, he has been fine. I do have a fish trap at the ready if he goes rogue on me.

There aren't many fish I dislike but there are quite a few people lust after that I just don't get. Tri colour tangs I find hideous, borbonius anthias I don't think are attractive and I don't like choati wrasse either even though the other macropharyngodons are beautiful.
If someone gave me any of them though I'd probably still give them a go because I could be wrong, you never really know until you keep them because a lot of the bad press, like for dottybacks, damsels etc is just uninformed, none experienced based bias.

Damsels, sohal tang , clown tang and flame hawk

Ate my 4 yr old pair of coral banded shrimp and harlequin shrimp same day i introduced it

I have two neon damsels and a clown tang. All are perfect citizens. The clown tang completely ignores the PBT and the yellow tang and they ignore him.

I have always found neon damsels to be pretty mild mannered compared to some of the others. Talbots damsels too

Tube Anemone ..... Red Hairy Leg Crab
Ursula - my tube just killed everything she could. Those tentacles could stretch half way across my tank to snag an unsuspecting fish. I woke up one morning to see her sucking down my purple firefish. The "B" had to go.
Crabzilla was like my wet dog. I loved the little guy. He begged for food... he would tap on the glass to say Hi. Honestly and truly, I got into the hobby because my LFS had one and it was a goal of mine to have a tank with a giant crab. Alas, Crabzilla was big. He frequently upgraded his shells and just got heavier and heavier. This did not play well for the rockwork. He really wasn't a predator ... more of an opportunist. He did turn my urchin into uni when the rock collapsed in it. (Urchins fault, not Crabzillas - or at least that is the story he used for an alibi.) When Ursula got out of control, I put Crabzilla and Ursula in a five gallon and let them fight it out. Crabzilla won... RIH Ursula.
Crabby Z lived out the rest of his days in a 35 gallon JBJ AIO. I hates the tank set up but I loved Crabzilla. It broke my heart when he passed on. Even still... I can say that I checked that off my bucket list and I won't go there again. Cool invert but too big for a delicate tank and he would eat his little friends.

For whatever reason Royal Gramma's to me are kind of dull, and way more trouble than they'd ever be worth IMO.

Same with Firefish.... I hate avid jumpers.

Some blennies are boring.

I'm not really into Chromis or Cardinals, or any fish that live largely only in the water column and have very little personality.

Favorites are my mystery wrasse and one day I hope I can have a tank big enough for a nice bat fish :D I think they're super cool.
