Fishicles for my IM 30 L

Howdy,

I'm trying to figure out the order to put my fish into my tank. I want a mixed reed - fish and abundant corals

So far:

Two black and white clowns
Some form of sandsifting goby was looking at others to the diamond goby
6 line wrasse
Blenny
Cardinals either pajama or banggie
Maybe some other idk

I'm wondering what should go first ?

I would put the goby and blenny in last, so as to let some algae and stuff in the sand to build up first so that they have something to eat and do. Clowns should be fine to go in first, just feed them well, and keep an eye on them going territorial, when the other fish go in; or give them an anemone at the same time, to keep them busy.

I'm hesitant to get anemone because they've been known to shock / kill corals. I originally thought clowns first but heard they're territorial which makes me nervous. I had thought goby but you raise a good point as their won't be any algae. Maybe wrasse ? Or cards?

Maybe do the cardinals first... I've never had an issue with anemones attacking corals (in my last tank, I had a large carpet and three bubbles) but that could just be my experience. Mine were pretty well behaved and didn't go adventuring around the tank. You could try a rock flower anemone, as those tend to be fairly sedentary once they pick a rock to attach to.

How big was the tank?

I think cards are a decent idea. Not incredibly expensive fish either unlike my black and white clowns

It was a 90 gallon, but I'm sure you would be fine with one anemone in your 30. The rock flowers don't get too big, or a maxi mini carpet would work as well.

Congratulations on the soon-to-be new clowns. One approach that I have used with success when adding new fish to tanks with other fish that may be territorial is to move the aquascaping around. What this may mean is to set up the tank in your 2nd most preferred arrangement so that when you move the aquascaping then you can move it into the 1st most preferred arrangement. Good luck with the new setup!

ummm pretty sure rock flowers and mini maxis don't host clowns so they would be useless in curbing territorial behaviours in clowns

Skip the 6 line. Terrible community fish once they mature (often turn into pescacidal maniacs). Go with a Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse instead. Much better tankmate and every bit as gorgeous IMHO:
