I cant eat fish so stopped fishing but still go on the water

i think i do it all. i eat them, keep them, catch them, i dont know what else i can do with em.

I love to fish. Idaho is mostly a trout state with our cold waters but I also enjoy bass and bluegill. Still trying to catch a catfish. One day I'll get one! I also bought some crayfish traps to try out too.

d

dang! thats wild, what fly did you use?
Zoom in close to it's mouth.... chartreuse surf candy, three inches long. Bait in the area were silversides, small menhaden and anchovies.

I actually saw this fish take the fly about two feet below the surface.

I'm in Idaho as well. Where are you running crayfish traps?

I'm in the southeast part myself. Almost everywhere has some, the snake river or portneuf will give a small amount. Alexander reservoir is a gold mine. I meant to take the traps this year but never made it over. In the past I've filled a 5 gallon bucket with just a worm lol. Toss the worm under a bridge, count to 5, put the crayfish in the bucket!

Nice, time to make some etouffee! I'm up north outside Coeurdalene.

I fly fish quite a bit and have for almost 40 years. Used to really be a hardcore steelhead chaser, as they can be caught in Michigan rivers just about year-round.

Now, with all the kids, I don’t have the time or flexibility to chase them around. These days my day-to-day is smallmouth (with some pike sprinkled in), and brown trout when the major hatches are going.
