Fishless frag tank Y or N

#reefsquad, So here's my dilemma,

One of my tanks is a coral/invert QT. To avoid a random ich spore or anything else hitting my display tank. BUT are there adverse consequences with not having fish to control certain issues like pests that arise or algae that could be controlled? Havnt noticed any pests to date, but doesnt mean their there.

Currently have some hair algea starting on couple plugs and I'm sure it's a buffet of pods and maybe pests that wrasses would jump all over.

Contemplating adding fish. But if I notice any signs of ich. It completly resets my clock. Is it worth the gamble lol?

If it were me, I would quarantine the fish separately before putting him in the system.

Ya all my fish go through complete QT procedure now, with great success following Ford and hotrocks protocol.

That being said, fish or not to fish. That is the question for the frag tsnk. I'm on the fence. Just dont know if the risk of ich reinfection is that likely from frag. Plus wrasses would go to town eating up I'm sure

If you put a fish in the coral qt tank, I think you are likely defeating the purpose. The resident fish, especially if something that is naturally resistant to certain ailments, can complete the lifecycle for ich spores, certain worms etc.

When you add fish you then have to feed them and that then feeds algae and so the circle starts.
