Fishnugget's Elos 160XL

Nice list of equipment.

tank is very nice!! Will be exciting to watch the frags grow, I am in the same spot haha. Waiting time

I have to tell you mate all that camera talk last week spurred me on and I ordered the Sony 90mm 28 G OSS macro lens :D
Will be good to finally have a good macro and not have to use diopters.

Dang.... Nice.

I was reviewing that same lens yesterday and considered pulling the trigger as well. I am still debating it. Post pics when you get it. I am sure it will be great, its had some stellar reviews.

Any reason you chose a 90mm over a 100mm?

Yea all the great reviews and sample pictures sold me on it. Also managed to get it at a nice discounted price which helped! Haha. Will do, hopefully I can do it some justice!

Simply because the 90mm is Sonys longest focal length macro for their e mount system and i wanted to keep within the Sony native system, no adaptors etc.

Just took a couple quick pics with it today, its coupled on my nex 5R so would be even better on your A7.
Really happy with it, just need to find a day to really play around with it!

Very nice pics Mattres! I am going to get that lens soon.

I almost bought it last week but I may wait a little more. :)

Are you using a camera box? If so, which one is the good one, AVAST?

I haven't got a top down box yet but yea I have had my eye on the avast porthole.
I have tried to find something over here but haven't found anything quite as good.

One of my reef buddies bought it and he wasnt impressed by it. He said it was a little overpriced.

Oh right, yea it is a little high in price. I'll have to pay international shipping to so maybe I need to look harder for something here! Haha. Or maybe make one, there must be a diy vid on it somewhere lol

It is practically nothing more than a 12" long and dia.4" PVC pipe, closed at 1 side with a transparent acrylic, 3 plastic bolts on the other side.
Where I think that the Avast has the possibility to replace the front acrylic lid in case of damage.
I am planning to make one. A youtube video is not my "forte" but some instruction and ideas I can pass on soon (next month)
If you do not hear from me again, it must have been a failure and I went for the Avast...

Haha we'll wait in anticipation. You're right it shouldn't be that difficult. The other option I've come up with is to win photo of the month haha :p, as i think thats the prize.
Now just to get a good photo..

Et voila...
Selfmade port hole.

17cm long for the 18-140mm Nikon zoom lens.
Inside diameter 88mm to fit above lens and the Nikon 105mm macro lens.
3 stainless steel bolts (will be replaced by plastic ones) to fix to the lens.
I used a pvc end pipe with wide opening for 4" pipe.
Still have to test it as I left it for the night with water inside to see if it glued well. If tomorrow I wake up with wet feet, something went wrong and you will hear about it.

But more important now... how are things going in the tank?

Fishnugget, Matt do you remember the camera settings to get these shots?
Trying to figure out the camera settings in aquarium use.
