Finally getting my feet back wet after a couple year hiatus. It's hard to look at other's tanks and not have one of your own. Long story short, I've been in the hobby 10+ years on and off. School and work was a big reason I've been out so long, but alas the bug bit again (It always does, trust me!).

Anyhow, looking around on the web I decided to set up a 20 long. I live in a single bedroom apartment so space is a big factor. However, I love the footprint of this tank and it'll fit perfect. I'll still be able to stock this pretty decently. It also doesn't hurt to see many others successfully running similar tanks with high success.

I've already gotten the tank up and going. What I failed to do was take pictures. Quite honestly, picture taking with a cell phone sucks. Not planning on doing anything. Going to try and keep this as simple as possible. So far the setup is as listed.

20L Tank (30"x12"x12") & Fluval stand
AC70 Filter w/ Chemipure & Floss
Current Sundial 30" 4x24W T5
Jebao WP-10 (Ordered, will arrive in a couple of weeks)
Finnex Titanium Heater w/ Temp monitor/probe
Also has 15lbs aragonite sand and about 12 lbs of base/fiji rock so far. Will eventually add another 8-12lbs and try to do a two-island style scape.

Again, this is the basis. Fairly simple setup. I may eventually invest in a skimmer. I plan on doing weekly 10% water changes after cycling.

For stocking I plan on zoas, mushrooms (rics/yumas) and other nice softies, lps (acans), and possibly some easier sps (montis). I would also love to keep another anemone. Fish-wise I'm planning on a pair of Onyx clowns, yasha or some other goby paired with a pistol and possibly a cherub or flameback angel.

I'm pretty excited about this build. It'll still be more budget but I'll have a little more money to spend on this one as opposed to my previous builds. Hope to keep this thread updated(pictures, progress) and hopefully get some great advice from you guys as well.

Looking forward to this one :)

Thanks. It's an honor. Honestly. Looking at your tank was my inspiration to go this route and even fully reignite my passion to get back in the hobby. I do thank you Lalani! I'll be sure to keep this thread updated. Would post pictures but the tank is jet black due to me not fully rinsing the chemipure.

Wow, that seriously means a lot to me as well! I've been inspired by many tanks over the years, so to hear that mine had the same effect on someone really makes me day! :biggrin1:

Thought I would update this thread. Excuse the poor quality cellphone pictures.

Start of my "Zoasis"

Since the initial post I've done quite a bit. Tank is running on a RKL unit. I added a Jebao WP-10, which is amazing.

Upgraded bulbs on the Current. The setup is currently:
Gisemann Aquablue +
ATI Blue+
KZ Fiji Purple
Current Actinic (which will be upgraded to another ATI Blue+)
This gives me a really nice color combination. Pictures don't show but the colors really make the corals look nice. It's a nice blue/white/slight purple hue to the tank. I love it.

Nice tank! Looks like it will grow out nice. I know what you mean about Lalani's tank her 10 gallon was the reason I set my 10 gallon back up.

Zoasis- that's cute. Your tank is lookin' good. I kept a 20L in storage in our basement in case I get a hankering for a 2nd tank.

you hvae some nice looking zoas!

Thanks guys. I really do appreciate the compliments. And Lalani's 20L was a big influence on me going this route. Major props to her!

Also meant to update some new pictures. Actually, not new, just recently uploaded pictures of corals I'd gotten last week.

Green & Pink Monti Digi & Idaho Grape Monti Cap

RPE. I actually have 2 color morphs. One was under LED's and other under T5. The one's that were under LED's have a more deep red color than these (And camera sucks as well)

Not sure of exact name, but these are so cool. Green w/purple/yellow centers.

Peppermint Acan

Should be getting some more nice zoas & acans this week! I'm excited!

Added some more coral today. Have a friend locally who has been getting in some nice pieces. (Sorry for quality once again, as my HTC camera is amazingly not amazing.)
